Given Nintendo’s run with emulation on the Switch, outing a Game Boy emulator makes sense. Further, according to Ars Technica, its legitimacy is incredibly likely, especially since it’s hard to forge such signatures. However, in this case, the files carry signatures from Nintendo’s European Research & Development team, prompting convincing cases that the program is real. However, since fans always develop emulators for themselves, it’s usually hard to prove whether a leaked program is official. The files were clearly meant for the entire series of portable devices including the Color and the Advance. Recently, a Switch-compatible Game Boy emulator popped up online. Well, if one leak rings true, we’re getting one step closer to complete emulation, starting with the Game Boy. Though the console already does wonders for home and mobile gaming, the device still lacks a complete version of its most sought-after feature since its introduction: emulation. Nintendo has not unlocked the full potential of the Switch.
